IN-STORE ARTISTS

We feature a range of inspiring local artists and new designers.

Paul Tucker
BA (hons) Visual Communication at Bath Academy of Art 1984-87

Since leaving college Paul has pursued a career in photography. Alongside his commercial work he has developed a personal collection of landscape photography that depicts the atmosphere and character particular to an area. Ongoing projects include: the sights and sounds of Britain 's exposed eastern coastline and the changing colours and textures of Epping Forest. The Lea Valley has also been a source of inspiration. The resulting black and white landscapes from this project show an alternative view of the London in which he lives and works. 'Bronte' is a series of photographs of a house in Suffolk that have been shown in Penny's shop over the last year. The interiors and their objects have a strong sense of identity and evoke memories of past lives. Recently Paul has completed a project on the former factory site of Hawker Siddeley Power Transformers in Walthamstow, prior to its demolition. A selection of these images will be on show in the shop later this year.

Penny Fielding

Penny Fielding studied painting and printmaking at the Ruskin School of Drawing at Oxford University, where she gained a first in her degree. Working in the applied arts in film television and theatre initally, she then ran her own successful interior design business for twelve years. She now runs a "Lifestyle Gallery" in Walthamstow village and
freelances as a colour consultant for architectural projects.

"I love colour and the effect it has on us, and our environment. My paintings are concerned with expressing colour without content. The viewer brings his/her own response to the work, and makes his/her own connections between the squares of colour. The paintings appear to shift and change depending on how the relationship between the colours are perceived."
